Macintosh Screen Sharing Weirdness

On the Macintosh you can ‘share a screen’ and look it it from another computer. I wondered what would happen if you then shared that screen back to the other computer so that they are both sharing with each other. This is is what happened – kind of standing in a lift with mirrors on both sides of you! (Click on the picture to enlarge it)

MasterChef

In the school holidays we ran our own master chef competition!

The theme was fruit jelly.

Ben made a passionfruit and mixed berry flower.

Tim made a pear jelly filled with berry compote with a butterscotch sauce.

Madeline made an apple and cinnamon jelly with chocolate frogs and chocolate chip cookies!

Colemak Keyboard aaaaargh!

Well yesterday I change my keyboard layout to Colemak. I had to pull off all the keys one by one and put them back in the new spots, and then change the keyboard driver on my Mac. Now my keyboard looks like this. It’s driving me crazy trying to type with it.

Here is a photo halfway through rearranging it.

Despite it being better on your fingers and more efficient, they estimate there are only approximately 3000 people using the Colemak layout so far. Dvorak is more popular, but Colemak looked better to me.

Sunnycove

Every month we do a service at Sunnycove. It was school holidays so the whole family came along. Ever since Grandad was in a nursing home I’ve realised how important it is for young people to go along and encourage the oldies.

Also I preached on 1 Timothy last year and this verse was a challenge to me:

But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.

Bigpond – try again!

I had the funniest call from Telstra Bigpond today. A guy was trying to sell me wireless internet, from bigpond, but the phone kept cutting in and out and he kept saying “Hello… Hello… I seem to be having a problem with the phone… hello… Are you there sir…”
So I thought I would help him out. I asked him if he was using a landline or VOIP, he was using ‘internet phone’. I asked if it was through Telstra – he said yes!
Poor fellow. I said ‘so you are tryign to sell me broadband that doesn’t even work’ and he encouraged me that it works well for internet, just not for phone!
Oh well. Better luck next time.

Solar Grid Connected

Today our solar panel array was connected. So far it has generated 1.72kWhr of electricity, saving 1.8kg of Carbon Dioxide emmissions! It’s a 1kW BP Solar Array.
